KL Trip

I'm rested enough to update my KL trip, so here goes.

Genting & KL Trip
Mei came to pick me up about 10+pm. Then we went to the coffeeshop at Brendan's house as the rest has not have their dinner.

After dinner, we begin our drive in to Malaysia. It has been a long time since I last went to Malaysia. Actually, I was feeling half hearted about this trip. But as it's over the weekend and I do not need to apply leave, I went.

The drive in is quite smooth as we hit the road about midnight. Mei drove quite fast ... to me it's fast ... speed hitting 160km/hr sometimes ... faster that I ever went was 140km/hr but that was for a short distance...

We reach Genting about 415am. It was vey cold... Even though I have a jacket on, I was shivering brrr ... We spend the whole night at Genting Casino, playing the slots machine. Didn't win, no such luck =P About 8 in the morning, we went for breakfast (Dim Sum) in one of the restaurant there. Food is not nice cos it's cold. It could be due to the weather but I doubt...

After breakfast, we went on to check out First World Hotel. Was surprised to see a long Q in front of the hotel. Later then we know that they are having a promotion to celebrate their 1 year anniversary, $1 stay promotion. No wonder it attract such a big crowd and mostly Singaporeans. The carparks were full of cars with SG carplate...

We left Genting around 12pm and head towards our Hotel, Holiday Villa. It's a nice hotel, more like a service apartment or a small condo. Nice place and the price is reasonable for a 2 bedroom unit.

By the time we finished checking in and settling down, we were dead beat. Didn't sleep for the whole night but also not wanting to waste time. In the end decided to take a short nap before proceeding. It is indeed a very short nap =P only 1hr 15min. I got the task of waking up everyone... a tough task... I have to think of ways to get them to wake up gently so as not to frighten them... not easy not easy although I succeeded in the end =P

Went to "Chi Cheong Gai" in a cab to shop and have our dinner. The cab driver in Malaysia is terrible. They seldom use their meter and will quote you any price that probably just pop into their mind. The 1st driver that stop quote us $8 and the next quote us $15 Image Hosted by ImageShack.us really terrible. So check the price first before you hop into a cab in Malaysia.

Sunday
We check out at 11am then we went to KLCC for some last minute shopping. As we left the car at the hotel, we went back to claim the car before heading off for SG. Here's somethings that happen along the way:
1) We were at the petrol kiosk a short distance from the causeway. There were lotsa cars there, wow~ good business. Was queuing up behind a Matrix. Saw the owner shaking his car ... hmm... trying his best to get in as much petrol as he can. Just then, the car in front of him move off so we took the pump infront of him. know what I saw? That owner is so greedy for cheap petrol that he keep pumping till the oil overflow and flow down his car body! Is there a need to go to that extend? Just for some cheaper petrol?

2) Shortly before the causeway, there was a police roadblock. Was asked to pull over by the cops. Reason, speeding.... haiz... Mei went down to talk to the police and in the end, settle it with RM$50... money money... you can do wonders...Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

3) Long queue at the causeway. Some cars, trying to cut queue, drove into the lane meant for buses. As we get nearer, we saw an officer standing at the head of the Buslane jotting down things into his notebook. Guess those drivers can expect a fine soon Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
